The 2015 GMC Savana gains digital AM/FM radio with USB and auxiliary port, a 110-volt power outlet, side-cut keys, and three banks of LED lighting as standard. A new exterior color, Emerald Green, has been added for the 2015 model year.

Overview
The 2015 GMC Savana offers three V-8 engines: a 4.8-liter with 285 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, a 6.0-liter making 329 hp and 373 lb-ft (282 hp and 320 lb-ft with CNG), and a 6.6-liter turbodiesel V-8 rated at 260 hp and 525 lb-ft. All three power plants are mated to a six speed automatic transmission. Acceleration is decent with the diesel engine due to its torque. Handling, on the other hand, is poor due to the van's imprecise steering and large size.
Interior space is ample with seating for up to 15 passengers or up to 284.4 cubic feet of cargo volume in the extended length G3500 model. Being a commercial vehicle, the Savana is "practically devoid of amenities," highlighting the van's focus on being utilitarian. Towing capacity is respectable at 10,000 pounds in both regular- and extended-length Savanas.
Passenger variants of the 2015 GMC Savana have a three-star rollover safety rating from the NHTSA (out of a possible five stars; cargo variants have not been tested).
What We Think
The 2015 GMC Savana is a viable choice among commercial vehicles with plenty of cargo space and seating for up to 15 in passenger variants. It excels at being utilitarian with up to 284.4 cubic feet of volume inside, and a 10,000-pound towing capacity. However, in a 2011 First Test review, we said that the Savana's lack of refinement and bare bones interior puts it behind competitors such as the Nissan NV1500/2500/3500 and the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, which have more comfortable cabins and are available with more features. Additionally, the van's drivability is hindered by its steering, which is imprecise.
