2013 Toyota Tundra Expert Review

The 2013 Toyota Tundra competes in a segment dominated by the long-running Ford F-Series and the Chevrolet Silverado. While the Tundra doesn't quite sell in the large numbers as its domestic competitors, the Toyota has proven to be a worthy alternative for customers who hold in high regard the automaker's reputation for reliability.
Like its competitors, the Tundra is offered in a number of cab and bed configurations. The Regular cab seats three, while the Double cab seats five passengers. The Crew cab, however, will seat five the most comfortably, with reclining rear seats and full-sized back doors for easy entry and exit. A 4.0-liter V-6 (mated to a five-speed automatic) serves as the base engine and is rated at 270-hp and 278 lb-ft of torque. The mid-level engine is a 310-hp, 4.6-liter V-8 and a 381-hp 5.7-liter eight-cylinder provides the most power among the bunch. Both V-8s are mated to six-speed automatics.
Four-wheel drive models offer a high and low range and come standard with an automatic limited-slip differential that provides better grip on loose surfaces. An optional TRD off-road package offers even more capability on the trail, thanks to Bilstein shocks, forged alloy wheels, and all-terrain tires. Standard on all Tundras are power windows, two auxiliary power outlets in the front passenger area, ABS, and a stability system specific to towing.
New for 2013
The Platinum Package new and includes heated and ventilated front seats, leather seating surfaces, navigation, a moonroof, and wood grain-style trim. The Entune infotainment system is available as an option and a TRD Rock Warrior Package is now offered on the Limited model.
