Updated thoroughly this year, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class is our 2013 Motor Trend Sport/Utility of the Year. The GL-Class earned the golden calipers by offering a vast assortment of powertrain options, muscular styling, and a gorgeous interior. The GL-Class comes in four different trim levels, all of which come standard with a seven-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The "base" model is the GL350 Bluetec, which is powered by a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 that makes 240 hp and an impressive 455 lb-ft of torque. The GL350 boasts the best fuel economy of the GL range, with an EPA rating of 19/26 mpg city/highway. A step up the ladder is the GL450, which has a 4.7-liter twin-turbo V-8 under the hood that makes 362 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. The GL450 is rated at 14/19 mpg.
