The 2014 Ford Edge midsize crossover sits above the compact Escape and below the Explorer. With seating for five passengers, the Ford Edge can be optioned with many amenities on top of standard safety features including curtain airbags for both rows of seats, Roll Stability Control, blind-spot mirrors (with an available blind spot monitoring system), and a post-crash alert system.

Engine choices for the 2014 Ford Edge include a 2.0-liter, turbocharged EcoBoost engine that is rated 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. It's mated to a six-speed automatic and is only available in a front-drive layout. The standard engine, which is also mated to a six-speed auto, is the 285-hp 3.5-liter V-6 that is offered in either front- or all-wheel drive. Those seeking a bit more performance can opt for the Edge Sport. That model is powered by a Mustang-sourced 3.7-liter V-6 (with a six-speed auto) that produces 305 hp and 280 lb-ft. In addition to standard all-wheel drive, the Edge Sport rides on large 22-inch rims and features a number of unique cosmetic accents like a black front grille, and aluminum accelerator and brake pedal covers.

The non-sport Ford Edge is available in three trim levels: SE, SEL, and Limited. Standard on all models include split-folding rear seats, projector beam headlights, and remote keyless entry. The SEL model adds dual-zone climate control, Ford SYNC, rear parking sensor, power adjustable driver's seat, and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The range-topping Limited model adds leather seating surfaces, MyFord Touch, a rear backup camera, and ambient lighting. Additionally, the Limited model can be optioned with other amenities like navigation, xenon lights, and a panorama sunroof.

New for 2014

No significant changes for model-year 2014 as the Edge received a substantial mid-cycle refresh for model year 2011. New colors include Sunset Metallic, Oxford White, and Ingot Silver (for the Sport model only).
