The rear-drive 2013 Chrysler 300's closest competitor is its Dodge Charger platform-mate, as well as the the Hyundai Genesis sedan, though buyers sometimes cross-shop the 300 with front-drive competitors such as the Toyota Avalon and Chevrolet Impala. Chrysler offers three engines on the 300: a 292-300 3.6-liter V-6 with 260-264 lb-ft of torque, a 363-hp, 294 lb-ft 5.7-liter V-8, and the SRT8 model's 6.4-liter V-8 with 470 hp and 470 lb-ft. The V-6 is backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission, while both V-8 engines are mated to a five-speed automatic. All-wheel drive is available with 3.6-liter and 5.7-liter engines. The rear-drive V-6 model is EPA rated 19/31 mpg city/highway, while all-wheel-drive six-cylinders are rated 18/27 mpg. Models with the 5.7-liter engine are rated 16/25 mpg and 15/23 mpg for rear- and all-wheel-drive models respectively. The SRT8 model is rated 14/23 mpg.
The Motor Trend long-term fleet includes a 2013 Chrysler 300S, which mates the V-6 to the new eight-speed automatic.
