The 2015 Trax is a subcompact crossover sold in LS, LT, and LTZ trims, and in front- or all-wheel-drive configurations. Its sole engine is a turbocharged 1.4-liter I-4 making 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Overview
The 2015 Chevrolet Trax is best described as a small urban crossover with all-weather capability thanks to its available all-wheel-drive system. It's best in city driving where its handling, small size, and maneuverability help it maneuver through tight spaces and traffic. However, the crossover's tiny turbocharged I-4 is strained going uphill, causing it to rev higher. Fuel economy is respectable at 26/34 mpg city/highway for front-drive models and 24/31 mpg with all-wheel drive.
Interior space in the 2015 Trax is decent for its size with cubbies for small items, two glove boxes, and 60/40 split folding rear seats that expand cargo room to up to 48.4 cubic feet. Tech features are similar to the Sonic subcompact hatch and sedan with an available seven-inch touchscreen and MyLink infotainment system and an available smartphone-based navigation system. Additionally, Chevrolet will also offer an option to turn the crossover into a mobile wi-fi hotspot with 4G LTE high-speed internet access.
The 2015 Trax has a five-star frontal crash safety rating and a four-star rollover score from the NHTSA (out of a possible five stars).

What We Think
The 2015 Chevrolet Trax could be a more sensible alternative for buyers who think the Equinox is too big.
