Hoosier Track Attack Pro Tires First Drive Review: Dominant on Streets and Racetracks
Hoosier’s Track Attack Pro tire helps you leave the trailer at home while putting the competition in the rearview mirror during track days.Hoosier Racing Tires began more than 60 years ago in Indiana as a grassroots competition-tire company and evolved into a racing community staple with offerings for dirt ovals to dragstrips and everything in between. Hoosier’s lineup today includes the R7 and the Circuit Slick for dedicated track use, but what if you want to ditch the trailer and drive home from a day of hot laps? Enter the Hoosier Track Attack Pro.
If you daily drive your sports car, luxury wagon, or muscle car and are considering the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R, Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R, Bridgestone Potenza RE-71 RS, Yokohama Advan A052, or the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R, then the Hoosier Track Attack Pro deserves your attention. The Hoosier Track Attack Pro blends the qualities of a dedicated track tire with a tread that’s just as happy carving winding backroads as it is on the commute to work.
The Track Attack Pro starts with Hoosier’s racing know-how and a rubber compound that has more in common with its track-dedicated brethren than with a street tire. Hoosier built extra-wide shoulder ribs into its design for stability and predictable handling in corners, and the company engineered the center rib for improved braking performance. The asymmetric tread features a three-groove design with reduced lateral voids and a reconfigured chamfered groove pattern. The tire’s carcass weight is reduced on average compared to other similarly sized tires.
According to Hoosier’s data, its new Track Attack Pro excels in dry handling and dry braking when compared against other tires in its class. The Track Attack Pro also matched the performance of the Hoosier R7 track-only tire in steering response, dry braking, lap time, and dry handling. The Track Attack Pro also showed better tread life than its track-dedicated counterpart.
