The outgoing Cadillac CTS-V family was loved by many, but the recently revealed next-gen CTS-V sedan could give enthusiasts much more to love. The automaker not only blessed the 2016 CTS-V sedan with a generous 640 hp and 630 lb-ft of torque, but also a more aggressive design theme that makes the CTS-V sedan look even beefier than the model it replaces. Below, we take a look at the racy four-door's visual transformation inside and out.
Like the standard CTS sedan, the CTS-V benefits from sleeker headlights that are swept back over the fenders for a more sinister look compared to the outgoing car, which had square-ish headlights that made it look wide-eyed in comparison. The front grille has also been revised to complement the headlights, with a more defined V-line at the top of the grille that aligns perfectly with the new Cadillac badge adorned on the center of the mesh grille. Like the ATS, LED daytime running lights are broken up into two parts, appearing on the headlights and on the lower air intakes. Other styling differences that make the CTS-V sedan look more sinister than before are flared front fenders, a more pronounced front splitter, and a bulging hood with a black heat extractor vent.
The major changes continue on the side of the car, with the air inlet moved behind the front wheel. Now vertical instead of horizontal, the air inlet intersects with a new V badge and is much more defined, as is a character line that starts above it and extends all the way to the taillight. Also noticeable from this angle is the CTS-V sedan's new decklid spoiler.
Around back, the spoiler hides the horizontal brake light that sat at the top of the trunklid on the previous car. The taillights have been revised to have a sharper angle at the top, while the chrome piece at the top of the license plate also has a sharper V crease. The new Cadillac badge sits at the top of the chrome piece, as do the "CTS" and "V" decals that used be located below it. Circular quad tailpipes also replace the pair of round tips found on the old car.
