If you have a really old Jeep, you probably have a stash of really old radiators. Our backup radiator was marginal at best, but we decided to give it a try anyway. The radiator did its best impersonation of a spaghetti strainer...not good for a radiator.

There are about half a million different types of radiator stop leak on the market. There are some in solid form (like big tablets) or in powder form, and some in liquids that you have to shake like crazy before dumping them into the radiator. Caution! Hot coolant will burn you severely. Only remove the radiator cap when the cooling system is cool.

We've used it before, and we will use it again. Honestly, it seems like it shouldn't work...couldn't possibly work, and in the long run radiator stop leak probably isn't that good for the longevity of your cooling system, but in a pinch it's way better than coolant spewing out everywhere and an overheated engine.
