Challenging the Tire Deflation Ritual

The Indeflate air down/air up tool includes a rugged, canvas storage bag that is big enough to fit additional hoses and accessories. We keep our on-board air hose in the zippered bag for easy access whenever it is time to air back up. Indeflate comes packaged with everything needed and is ready to use right out of the bag. The only thing we had to do was add the hanging clip to the gauge.

Each Indeflate 10-foot hose comes preassembled with a high quality brass clip-on tire chuck. The hose is also of high quality, abrasion resistant, and very pliable. Despite our best attempts to tangle the hose, it always unrolls out of the bag ready to go.

The Indeflate dump valve slides up and down the machined aluminum body. In the up position, air escapes through the two holes in the body. Slide it down and the holes are sealed up and ready to take a gauge reading or to inflate the tires.

The Indeflate body is very ergonomic and enables one-handed operation of the dump valve. The knurled and notched valve can be operated while wearing gloves for those times when airing down in cold weather. Pressure readings are taken from the 0-100 PSI gauge.

To air back up using Indeflate, an additional brass clip-on tire chuck is included with a quick disconnect coupling. Clip the air supply hose on the Schrader valve at the bottom of the Indeflate tool and air will flow to both tires. The gauge will read a few PSI high while air is flowing but, once the air source is removed, an accurate reading can be taken.

The biggest benefit to the Indeflate is the ability to hook it up to two tires, hang it up from somewhere on the vehicle, and let it go to work while your hands are free to drink some coffee or turn your hubs. This is not something every tire deflator or inflator can offer! Just keep an eye on it while deflating as it will not stop until all the air is out. A four-tire system is also available but we think that just adds unnecessary complexity to the job.

Indeflate isn't just for overlanders, we have used it on our rock crawler too with good results. We balanced the pressures across axles after realizing a 10 PSI difference due to a slow leak and a higher than normal pressure from our last trip out. Hooking up the Indeflate with the dump valve closed, we could hear air moving from one tire to the other until it equalized at seven PSI. The balancing feature makes any higher PSI tire an air source, including the spare tire, in an emergency.
