In 2016, we put our heads together with Toyo Tires to create the first-ever Shutter Space. Part photography contest, part car meet, the whole idea was to celebrate up-and-coming automotive photographers while also bringing together local enthusiasts for a free meet and photo gallery. Now four years later, we've recognized countless photographers and Toyo has hosted four events that have taken place in Southern California, Hawaii and Texas.
This year's contest theme was "Blue", and we'd like to congratulate Joseph Merkens (@spittingpixels) for scoring the highest votes with his stunning photo of Dana Balthasar's Lexus RC F. The Shutter Space event also moved to Houston, Texas, at Auto Film Specialists (special thanks to Vu Nguyen and Thomas Ho).
There was no shortage of eye candy from the finalists' photos printed on the walls to the number of OG Houston builds on display ranging from a "Hakotora", VIP cars, fresh JDM imports from Shinku Classics and lifted trucks from EVS Motors. Now with the fourth competition and car meet complete, Toyo Tires is gearing up for Year #5, and taking it back to Southern California.
