We all love custom vehicles, but at some point, it's time to purchase something that's reliable and considered a "responsible adult ride." In 2017, Brian Bush made that purchase when he drove into Henry Brown GMC and purchased his 2017 GMC Sierra Denali. The goal was to have a comfortable commuter truck and leave it completely stock with a full warranty. Brian was hired to build a Can Am X3 that was given a featured spot at SEMA in Las Vegas. The owner of the Can Am asked Brian if he wanted his Denali in a SEMA spot, as well, and linked him up with Truck Hero. The company had spots available and told Brian if he built the GMC Sierra, they would give him a nice featured spot.
Brian was given complete creative control, and with his background in desert racing, sand duning, and general off-road lifestyle, Brian used his knowledge to gear his '17 toward that niche. Two years later, Brian saw the new body style of the 2019 GMC Sierra Denali Prerunner and decided it was time to upgrade. He went back into Henry Brown GMC and was thoroughly delighted that the exact model and color he wanted was available. He purchased the 2019 GMC Sierra Denali Prerunner without the sunroof and power steps because he knew he was going to add other things. The 2019 shared many of the features of the 2017 that initially attracted him, so a lot of the OEM specialties like the grille, badges, and chrome fixings all remained intact.
To strengthen the suspension, Brian had the Dirt King Fabrication long-travel suspension components added. Brian has utilized Fox shocks in his past racing Baja, sand dunes, and mountain bikes, so it was a no-brainer to add Fox 3.0 triple bypass shocks to the Prerunner. Brian sees the polished Trail Ready beadlock wheels as one of the classiest off-road wheels that money can buy, so once purchased, he wrapped them in 37-inch Toyo tires. Fiberwerx is the leader in fiberglass prerunner body kits, and now both of Brian's GMCs have been their R&D trucks for product development. In the rear of the truck, Dirt King Fabrication installed the bed cage that consists of a Pro Eagle off-road floor jack, a Power Tank C02 auxiliary onboard air compressor, and a Yakima Hold Up Evo bike rack. Undercover Bed Covers provided their Swing Cases locking swing-out storage boxes for the bed. Dirt King Fabrication replaced the front and rear bumpers with a more aggressive and practical design.
Truck Hero's subsidiary company is ARE Accessories, and they were more than eager to add their Z2 fiberglass bed cap and Ascend Roof basket to the 2019. Inside the bed, Bed Rug provided a carpeted bedliner to protect the original bed. The next step was getting Baja Designs on board by outfitting the Denali with 360-degree lighting managed through a Switch-Pros SP9100 switch panel custom-built into the dashboard. The compact switch panel is capable of flowing 125 amps of continuous power with a total of eight circuits, four rated at 20 amps and four rated at 35 amps, each powering all types of 12-volt accessories. Xineering provided the electronics necessary to delete the OEM magnetic ride shocks without associated codes or speed limiters.
