PZ Tuning Wants Your Record!
Canadian tuner poised on greatness steps up to the champs at SLBJust last year, during the madness of SEMA week, we caught wind of a serious 9th gen Civic coupe that steered clear of the typical red carpet dweller. A few scars, some aggressive aero and a Borg Warner turbocharged K24 suggested that this coupe was built for battle. We even featured it back in August.
The owner, William Au-Yeung of Point Zero Auto Sound & Performance, located in Ontario, Canada, went on to make his way to multiple track events in 2016 and instantly began making waves. In fact, he even blasted a few record setting laps at Gingerman Raceway along the way. All of that is admirable, but there's still one major goal that William has his sites focused on and he's dead set on making it happen before year's end.
Super Lap Battle has served as the ultimate proving grounds for years, and just 12 months ago, the Spoon Sports USA/GoTuning Civic FD burned the long-standing record by almost 2 seconds. William saw it happen firsthand as he was competing last year and was actually one of the top 5 finishers. His 1:52.645 was lighting quick, but not enough to keep pace with the Spoon car. Since that point however, he's developed the car further, become more comfortable and confident behind the wheel and has certainly hit his stride. That means, simply put, a rematch is in order.
Since we last featured the PZ Tuning coupe, some pretty major changes have taken place both mechanically and aesthetically. The K-series' OS Giken LSD is now mated to a Quaife sequential trans and new Fortune Auto coilovers occupy the wheel wells, along with a host of other upgrades. The Civic also has a new look, wrapped in Vibrant livery to signify a new partnership between the two Canadian heavy hitters.
We caught up with William to get to get some intel on the coupe before it heads to SoCal for Super Lap Battle.
