King of the Hammers (KOH2020) comes to Johnson Valley, California, every year and draws thousands of off-road fans into the barren desert. Think of it as the Super-Burning-Off-Road-World-Stock-Cup-Man-Bowl of vehicles that play in the dirt.

The King of the Hammers race, held on Friday of Hammers week, is lauded as the toughest one-day race on the planet, and is as much a testament to driver perseverance as vehicular fortitude.
Activity for King of the Hammers week is centered around an establishment dubbed "Hammertown USA." This is a city with named streets, tents, off-road vendors, a central fire pit, main stage, restrooms, race pits, food, and much more. Surrounding Hammertown is what we call the Suburbs, where race spectators and off-road enthusiasts make camp for sometimes over ten days leading up to and following the event.
UTVsCan-Am sponsored the UTV King of the Hammers race on Sunday of opening weekend, open to all registered UTVs, 1,000 cc or smaller, that completed the tech and safety inspection.
Rock BouncersThe Holley EFI Shootout on Monday, February 3rd, was open to rock bouncers, Ultra4 cars, and anyone willing to take on the shootout course.
Every Man ChallengeSponsored by 4 Wheel Parts, this race was open to vehicles with stock frames, bodies, headlights, engines, and up to 35-inch tires, among other restrictions, are raced in this category.
T1 TrucksAlso known as Trophy Trucks, these machines raced the Toyo Desert Invitational and could be two- or four-wheel drive with no restrictions on engine displacement or suspension. They go fast.
Four-Wheel Drive Race RigsEither based off a production vehicle or sporting a custom-built chassis, as long as it has a transfer case and can pass tech and safety, Nitto King of the Hammers drivers can compete in the 4400 class alongside the greatest racers in the off-road world.
Dirt BikesProgressive King of the Motos was held on Saturday, February 8, and sent two-wheel racers across the rocks and through the desert.
Throughout the week, thousands of off-road enthusiasts take to the trails surrounding the race course to put their personal 4x4s to the test. With trails named Chocolate Thunder, Wrecking Ball, Big Johnson, Backdoor, Turkey Claw, Jackhammer, Sledge Hammer, and Aftershock; there are ample opportunities to place metal and rubber against rock in the name of 4x4 fun.
We combed Hammertown as well as the sidelines of the race course and found some of the best action King of the Hammers had to offer.
