2025 Ford Super Duty Expert Review

Reviewed by Alex Leanse

Ford flexes its pickup truck capabilities with the F-350 Super Duty. This heavy-duty pickup provides major work-ready towing and hauling potential in all its many trims and configurations, which range from stripped-down work trucks to luxurious brutes. Single- and dual-rear-wheel powertrains are available. Rivals to the F-350 include the Ram 3500, Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD, and GMC Sierra 3500 HD.

What’s New

  • Now available in Ruby Red Metallic and Avalanche paint
  • Lariat trim gets ActiveX synthetic leather seating material
  • Black exterior details and blue-black interior colorway added to Platinum trim
  • Platinum Plus package introduced with high-end features and amenities
  • More trailering tech packages offered
  • Improved upfitting integration

What We Think

Drivers in the Ford family who’ve owned a Super Duty before will find much that’s familiar and appealing in the 2025 F-350—but that’s because this new truck doesn’t exactly feel new.

Design-wise, the F-350 looks more or less the same as it has for many years. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but the truck could lack curb appeal next to some more daring pickup designs. It’s a similar story in the cabin, which is spacious and offers many modern tech amenities yet emphasizes functionality over style.

Of course, functionality is a top priority for a heavy-duty pickup, and here the F-350 overdelivers. It can tow and haul huge loads, moving with confidence and refinement when loaded up. The available turbodiesel engines are much better than the gasoline options. Ford offers a wide range of technologies and driver assists to make getting to work with the F-350 easier. However, the truck’s loose steering and firm unladen ride aren’t ideal for daily driving.

Tradition runs deep in pickup trucks, and the F-350 is steeped in it. However, some rivals break the mold to better appeal to today’s truck drivers.

Performance and MPGs

All versions of the 2025 F-350 have a V-8 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The gasoline engines can alternatively run on E85, and two versions of a turbodiesel engine are available. The basic F-350 XL and XLT have RWD as standard, but 4WD is standard on every trim level above that.

6.8-liter V-8

  • Horsepower/Torque: 405 hp/455 lb-ft
  • Acceleration (0–60 mph): 9.0 seconds (MT estimate)

7.3-liter V-8

  • Horsepower/Torque: 430 hp/485 lb-ft
  • Acceleration (0–60 mph): 7.8 seconds (MT estimate)

6.7-liter Turbodiesel V-8

  • Horsepower/Torque: 475 hp/1,050 lb-ft
  • Acceleration (0–60 mph): 7.4 seconds (MT estimate)

6.8-liter V-8

  • Horsepower/Torque: 500 hp/1,200 lb-ft
  • Acceleration (0–60 mph): 6.3 seconds

Super Duty Tremor Package: Off-Road F-350

Getting the Tremor package on the F-350 equips the truck to venture farther off the beaten path. Tremor spec adds an off-road-tuned suspension that increases the ride height, along with package-specific wheels wearing 35-inch all-terrain tires. It also brings underbody skidplates, along with limited-slip front and lockable rear differentials. Software enhancements include Rock Crawl and Trail Control drive modes, as well as Trail Turn Assist, which clamps the inside rear brake to help the truck pivot through tight turns. As if thr Tremor treatment didn’t make the F-350 look chonky enough, it also slaps bright orange decals on the bedside for even more eye-catching power.

What Is the F-350 Platinum Plus Package?

The F-350 Platinum trim is already luxurious, but Ford ups the ante with a new Platinum Plus package for 2025. The F-350 Platinum Plus has an exclusive interior adorned with perforated and French-stitched leather in Smoked Truffle brown. Outside, it wears a chrome-accented satin-finish grille. Flat-folding front seats and a 2-kW onboard power system are included, along with a bevy of other standard equipment.

Special ownership perks are also included with the Platinum Plus package. To start, Ford sends buyers a “personalized gift.” Then, those buyers are upgraded to the Blue tier of the FordPass Rewards program, before receiving access to personalized text message support and guided virtual tours with Ford product experts. Opting for the Platinum Plus package can bring cost savings, as it’s good for a 20 percent discount on all Ford factory accessories bought in the first 90 days of ownership.

Safety and Driver Assist Features

On all trims above the base XL, front automatic emergency braking, hill start assist, and trailer sway control are included. Above the Lariat trim, rear parking sensors are added, along with turn signal cameras and blind-spot monitoring that can cover a trailer up to 33 feet long. Starting with the King Ranch trim, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and road sign recognition become standard. Ford’s Blue Cruise hands-free driving system can’t yet be equipped on the F-350.

Cab and Bed Configurations

Basic F-350 specifications have a two-door Regular Cab, which seats three passengers across on a bench seat. That has an 8.0-foot bed behind it.

For more passenger capacity, the SuperCab and Crew Cab have two rows of seats. Those can seat six occupants when the front bench seat is equipped, or five occupants with individual front seats and a fixed center console. The SuperCab and Crew Cab bodies can be paired with a 6.8-foot or 8.0-foot bed.

Technology

In basic trims, the F-350 is equipped with an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen and 4.2-inch gauge cluster information display. Models higher up the range have a 12.0-inch touchscreen and 12.0-inch all-digital gauge display; a head-up display is added on range-topping models. All have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, made wireless on the larger touchscreen. Base models have a four-, five-, or seven-speaker audio system, but most versions come with an eight- or 14-speaker setup by Bang & Olufsen. A wireless charging pad is available to supplement the standard USB ports.

F-350 Towing and Hauling

The F-350 can carry a payload of up to 8,000 pounds in its bed and tow up to 28,000 pounds in conventional towing, or 38,000 pounds in gooseneck towing. Those capabilities are contingent on specific configuration, but the 2025 F-350 remains an impressively capable truck regardless of how it’s built.

2025 Ford F-350 Trim Levels

As it seems to go these days, the 2025 F-350 is slightly more expensive than the 2024 model. Even so, its starting price is still less than $50,000 in its basic trim. The F-350's five trim levels can be customized and personalized with the many bed, cab, package, and feature combinations Ford offers.

  • 2025 F-350 XL
  • 2025 F-350 XLT
  • 2025 F-350 Lariat
  • 2025 F-350 King Ranch
  • 2025 F-350 Platinum
