The 2017 Aston Martin Rapide is the only four-door sold by Aston Martin. Essentially, the Rapide S is a four-door sports car with rear-wheel drive.
Overview
The 2017 Aston Martin Rapide S is powered by a 5.9-liter V-12 with 560 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is the only gearbox available. The EPA rates the 2017 Rapide S at 14/21 mpg city/highway. Despite its size, the Rapide S doesn't have much cargo space at 7.8 cubic feet behind the rear seats or 31.2 cubic feet with them folded.
Standard features include leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, automatic climate control, LED interior lighting, front and rear parking sensors, power adjustable front seats, navigation with a 6.5-inch screen, and piano black interior trim. Options include six alloy wheel choices, personalized side sills, a rear-seat entertainment system, ventilated seats, a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system, folding rear seats, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
What We Think
In a 2015 First Drive review, we said that the eight-speed automatic transmission offers quick shifts and has made the Rapide S accelerate faster. Additionally, the gearbox has also improved the car's fuel economy without sacrificing performance. The Rapide S handles exceptionally well and offers plenty of confidence on winding roads thanks to its excellent steering. The car's cabin, on the other hand, is well appointed with high-end materials all around; however, the infotainment system is dated compared to its competitors.
