2017 Lincoln MKC Gets Updates
Luxury Crossover Adds More Standard Equipment, CarPlay, Android Auto
Following in the footsteps of the redesigned 2017 Ford Escape, the Lincoln MKC gets some updates for the 2017 model year. The changes are relatively minor and include adding auto stop-start on 2.0L models, making it standard on front-wheel-drive models, and making it available on all-wheel-drive models. The formerly optional power rear liftgate is now standard across the line. And the Sync 3 touchscreen interface, which debuted for the 2016 model year, now includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Brake Auto-Hold, previously optional, is now standard across the line, which keeps the brake pedal depressed when the vehicle is stationary until the throttle is applied, reducing driver fatigue.
The 2017 MKC carries forth the wing-style grille. The new Continental and redesigned 2017 MKZ sedan have a new rectangular mesh grille design, which is expected to eventually migrate to the MKC, MKX, and Navigator.
The MKC, along with the midsize MKX crossover, is a critical part of Lincoln’s turnaround strategy, tapping into the high consumer demand for luxury crossovers. Combined sales of Lincoln’s three SUV models, the fullsize Navigator, MKX, and MKC, accounted for 59 percent of the brand’s U.S. sales. The MKC has been especially popular in China, where it accounts for 70 percent of sales.
