Dog Narrowly Avoids Becoming Rally Roadkill (W/Video)
The most dramatic dog walk ever
In an ideal rally race, the road course remains free of dangerous obstacles like farm tractors and innocent canines. But a rally in South America this past weekend proved that's not always the case, as an extremely lucky dog narrowly avoided becoming roadkill.
FDC Multimedioscaught dramatic footage from the Codasur 2016 rally in Santa Cruz, Bolivia where a dog was trotting along on a peaceful dirt road in the countryside. Unfortunately for the black and white pup, the road was part of a rallycourse for dozens of racers including Uruguay's Fernando Zuasnabar, who was quickly approaching in his Mitsubishi Evo. Spectators can be heard warning others of the dog, while some try to shoo the pup off the road.
But the dog doesn't move. Zuasnabar rounds the corner and it's obvious he doesn't see the four-legged obstacle in front of him because he continues to accelerate. Seconds later, the Mitsu launches over a bump in the road and is airborne, flying over the dog. The crowd cheers and the dog continues to trot away terrified but unscathed.
The 2016 Codsasur rally season began on April 1 and has gone through four countries including Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina, and Bolivia. The last leg takes place at the end of November in Uruguay.
